Today We Have a Much Cleaner Mexico
On May 26, more than 7.5 million people in 150,104 brigades participated in the fifth Limpiemos Nuestro México (Let’s Clean Up Our Mexico) campaign. In all, we picked up 38,152 tons of trash, taking back our public spaces.
Since 2009, when we held the first cleanup campaign, our results have gotten better and better, but, above all, we’ve created awareness about the seriousness of the environmental problem of littering and waste management.
With this year’s Limpiemos Nuestro México, we have shown that together we can achieve much more, and you can be sure that Grupo Salinas and Fundación Azteca will continue to promote this initiative.
I want to thank everyone who participated in this campaign, donating the most valuable thing they have: their time.
I also want to recognize the Grupo Salinas team and their brigades that participated nationwide, as well as the Boy Scouts of Mexico, who accompanied us in coordination with Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas.
Very special mention should also be made of the enthusiastic participation of Grupo Bimbo and the Liga MX in promoting and carrying out the campaign. I also want to thank the ever-present support of Mexico’s Ministries of Public Education (SEP) and of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), as well as the local public institutions that joined in this national effort.
I’m still an optimist and I’m confident that after participating, we will all carry with us not only that seed of change, but also the satisfaction of contributing to a cleaner nation.
